The Job Report

Filed under: Uncategorized — Barry Stone @ 1:05 pm

The Job Report will be out today and its said to not be a happy report at all. I heard someone on FOX News make the comment that the job losses have gotten to the point where someone knows someone that has lost their job.

Last night, I began thinking about how should Christians respond to this news. I have four actions: pray, work, listen and decide!

1) Pray. Prayer ought to be the Christians first reaction. But what should we pray? I believe that we should begin with praising God, because He is the God Who Provides. Thanking God for what you have and what God has provided for you will follow praising God. Then we should move into praying for those that have lost their jobs and also pray for our own jobs. So Christian – PRAY!

2) Work. We should go into our jobs and work our butts off. Its time for Christians to have a strong godly work ethic. Also, work with those that have lost their jobs. Help them get back into work, through using your networking, words of encouragement and faithful support. So Christian – WORK!

3) Listen. I enjoy listening to financial advisors and reading financial reports. I believe that its time for us to pay close attention to what they are saying about budgets, savings, spending, investments and etc. It would be wise to listen. So Christian – LISTEN!

4) Decide. Decide what? Well, when times get tight, people tighten up their checkbooks. I am Baptist and Baptists are known for preaching hard on Hell and Tithing. We have to decide at this time if we are going to continue to give our tithes or our we going to rethink that area of our finances. Let me encourage you, that robbing God is not an option for the Christian. So Christian – DECIDE!

We here in American are facing tough times, but God knows what is happen. He always provides and sees us through. This time will be no different.

I VOTED!!!

My Grandpa always told me that there is two things you never talk about: religion and politics. Unfortunately for him, his youngest grandson would love both and be involved in both. So I talk about both a lot.

Tuesday, I got to vote. That day was very special to me, because I voted at the same place as my parents, Grandma and uncle. After I voted, I saw a friend of mine who was a WWII Veteran. I shook his hand and thanked him for defending my freedom and liberty so that I could to vote. My beautiful girlfriend, Rachel, went and voted. I was happy and proud of all of them.

I am one of those Evangelical Republicans who believes in fighting for the unborn and for the family, protecting our nation, supporting Israel, working on the economy, looking at how we can preserve our earth and so much more.

I do believe that Christians have a responsibility to be politically engaged for the ultimate purpose of seeing the lost come to Christ and see a society turn to God.

Therefore, I believe that Christians should vote, campaign, get involved in the community and etc. Since, we believe that Jesus is the only way to Heaven and the Answer, why do we hide in our churches and make excuses for not engage our culture.

What have you done to be Christ’s Ambassador to your town, your county, your state, your nation and the world?
